Various types of Bearing
What is Definition -Various types of Bearing?
Various types of Bearing, it is a mechanical component that supports and guides a rotating or moving part, usually a shaft, and reduces friction between moving surfaces while carrying load.

Main Components of Various types of Bearing:
(i)Inner Race
(ii)Outer Race
(iii)Cage/Retainer
(iv)Rolling Elements (Ball or Roller)
(v)Seal/Shield
Why Bearing is Used?
It is an important component used to lessen friction between moving parts, support radial and axial loads, and maintain precise alignment of rotating shafts. It also prevents direct contact from metal to metal, which minimize excessive heat and wear and tear.

Main Reasons for Using Bearings:
Minimise Friction: By replacing sliding friction with rolling friction (in rolling bearings), they allow parts to move more efficiently and smoothly.
Load Carrying: Bearing holds the rotating shafts in place and taking radial loads (Perpendicular to the shaft) and axial loads (Parallel to the axis of shaft).
Maintain Position: It ensures and maintain the correct position of the rotating or moving parts.
Wear and Tear: It minimise high heat generation, minimise wear and tear and reduces premature failure of machinery parts.
Applications For:
- Automotive: Wheel bearings, engines, transmissions.
- Industrial: Motors, conveyors, fans, pumps.
- Consumer Goods: Washing machines, refrigerators, skateboards, vacuum cleaners
Various types of Bearing:
Basically, rolling elements can be subdivided into two major types:
(i)Ball bearings and (ii)Roller bearings
Different types of Ball Bearings:
Main Types of Ball Bearings: In particular, Ball bearing have many categories.
(i)Deep Groove Ball Bearings: The most common type, usually used for handling high speeds, and support both radial and axial loads.
(ii)Angular Contact Ball Bearings: This bearing is designed to handle combined, simultaneous radial and axial loads (axial in one direction).
(iii)Thrust Ball Bearing: It is specifically designed to support axial loads (thrust) and cannot handle radial loads.
(iv)Self-Aligning Ball Bearing: A spherical outer ring raceway that allows for misalignment between the shaft and housing. These produce low friction, making them ideal for high-speed applications.
(v)Precisions Ball Bearing: Small-sized bearings, often with inner diameters under 10mm, used in precision instruments. These can be of the deep groove or angular contact type.
Roller Bearings: Similarly there are many types of Roller Bearings.
Main Types of Roller Bearings:
(i)Cylindrical Roller Bearing: it is used cylindrical rollers for high radial capacity and moderate speed.
(ii)Tapered Roller Bearing: Combined radial and axial loads (thrust loads) is handled with conical rollers and raceways.
(iii) Spherical Roller Bearing: for handling self-aligning and shaft misalignment, barrel-shaped rollers that operate on a spherical outer ring raceway.
(iv)Needle Roller Bearing: again ,used thin cylindrical rollers (needles) to handle high radial loads.
(v)Thrust Roller Bearing: Specifically designed to support axial loads, available in cylindrical, tapered, or spherical configurations.

| ZZ | Both Sides metal Shielded |
| RS | Rubber Seal on one side |
| 2RS | Rubber Seal on both sides |
| V | One side non contact seal |

Finally you will learn, How to Find Bore size/shaft Size from Bearing Number?
From 3rd and 4th Digit of a Bearing Number, we can Calculate Bore Size or Shaft Size.
If The 3rd and 4th Digit is 00, Consider Bore Size will be 10 mm.
If The 3rd and 4th Digit is 01, Consider Bore Size will be 12 mm.
If The 3rd and 4th Digit is 02, Consider Bore Size will be 15 mm.
If The 3rd and 4th Digit is 03, Consider Bore Size will be 17 mm.
If The 3rd and 4th Digit is greater than 03,
Formula: Bore Size will be Five Times of the 3rd and 4th Digit.
For Example:
For Bearing 6304ZZC3
Bore Size Will Be=5 timesX3rd & 4th Digit=5×04=20mm
For Bearing 6305ZZC3
Bore Size Will Be=5 timesX3rd & 4th Digit=5×05=25mm
